Prism — Privacy Policy

1. What Prism Does

Prism is a Chrome extension that provides AI-powered translation and summarization for web pages and web apps such as YouTube. It operates entirely as a local tool in your browser.

2. Data Collection

None. Prism does not collect any personal data, usage analytics, telemetry, or browsing history. There are no analytics scripts, tracking pixels, or data collection of any kind by the extension developer.

3. Data Stored on Your Device

The following data is stored locally in Chrome's extension storage on your device and never leaves it:

• User preferences: Target language, display mode, and UI settings.
• AI provider credentials: If you connect an AI provider, the credentials (OAuth tokens or API keys) are stored only in Chrome's local extension storage. They are used solely to make direct API calls to the provider you chose and are never transmitted to any other party.

4. Data Sent to AI Providers

When you use translation or summarization features, the relevant text content is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you have selected. Prism supports on-device AI processing (where no data leaves your device) as well as third-party AI providers that you configure yourself.

In all cases, the extension developer has no access to the data you send to these providers. Your relationship with any third-party AI provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service.

5. Web App and Website Content

When you use Prism to extract, translate, or summarize content from web pages or web apps, the content is:

• Extracted from your own browser sessions (including any authenticated sessions you have open)
• Processed transiently in your browser for display in the extension's side panel
• Sent to your chosen AI provider only when you explicitly request translation or summarization
• Never stored beyond the active browser session
• Never transmitted to any server controlled by the extension developer

6. Third-Party Services

Prism does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only external communications are direct API calls to the AI provider you choose, or none at all if you use on-device processing.

7. Data Sharing

Prism does not share, sell, or transfer any user data to third parties. User data is not used for advertising, marketing, or creditworthiness purposes.

8. Data Retention

Prism does not retain any user data beyond what is stored locally in your browser's extension storage (preferences and AI provider credentials). Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data.

9. Limited Use Disclosure

Prism adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements:

• Data is only used to provide the user-facing features described in the Chrome Web Store listing.
• Data is not transferred to third parties except as necessary to provide the features (direct API calls to the user's chosen AI provider).
• Data is not used for advertising or creditworthiness purposes.
• Data is not sold to third parties.

10. Children's Privacy

Prism is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
